Greg Chaney, Senior Partner


Greg grew up in rural Canyon County, Idaho, where his family raised beef steers, replacement dairy heifers, and sheep. His father worked for a local dairyman as a farm manager. In high school, when Greg wasn’t working at home or engaged in a 4-H or FFA project, he was earning money building fence, irrigating, or milking cows on area farms.

Greg graduated from Kuna High School and has a B.A. in Communications and Political Science from Boise State University. Greg completed his Juris Doctor degree at Concordia University School of Law in Boise.

Greg serves as a member of the Revenue and Taxation Committee and is the Chairman of the Judiciary, Rules, and Administration Committee.

Greg is motivated as an attorney by a strong desire to see clients represented fairly, aggressively, and honestly. “Nobody should feel alone, like they don’t have anyone on their side. They should be confident that they have an attorney who is going to put their interests first and foremost.”

Jacob Hoshino, Senior Associate

Taylor-BenjaminOriginally from Hawaii, Jacob moved his family to Idaho to attend the University of Idaho, College of Law. While attending law school, Jacob externed at the U.S. Attorney’s Office (2018) where he learned to carefully manage cases and successfully articulate arguments in the courtroom. He also received his Divorce Mediation certificate, effectively completed the University of Idaho’s Trial Advocacy course, and was a recipient of the CALI Excellence for the Future Award (2017).

In his undergraduate studies, Jacob was the wrestling team captain, a two-time Academic All-American, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Midland University in Nebraska. Jacob brings his tenacious work ethic and competitive attitude to Chaney Law, always fighting for the best for his clients.

Jacob enjoys doing outdoor activities with his family including, fishing, hiking, snowboarding, and when he visits Hawaii, surfing too. Otherwise, he enjoys a simple Sunday afternoon of attending church with his family and relaxing on the couch with his sons and a movie after all the chores are finished.

What motivates Jacob as an attorney is he enjoys speaking up on behalf of his clients’ and advocating to the courts their concerns. He understands the court system is a difficult system to navigate, and thus, he takes pride in assisting clients with every step of the process, keeping them informed of what their best options are.

Kate Bartles, Associate Attorney


Kate grew up across the Treasure Valley. For her undergraduate degree, Kate attended the University of Idaho where she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business and Marketing. So nice she attended it twice, Kate later graduated from the University of Idaho’s College of Law with an emphasis in Business Law and Entrepreneurship.

During her undergraduate studies Kate held multiple leadership roles within student government, the center for volunteerism, and her sorority. In law school, Kate was the president of the Women’s Law Caucus and the vice president of the Agricultural Law Society. She also received a CALI Award for achieving the top grade in Workplace Law.

As an extern for the 4th Judicial District, Kate served under Judges presiding over Family Law, Child Protection, and Civil Protection matters. She also worked in the law school’s Taxpayer Clinic, where she represented clients in their disputes against the IRS. Before attending law school, Kate worked in internal audit at Albertsons Companies, and at the J.R. Simplot Processing Plant in Caldwell.

Jack Wagner, Associate Attorney

Originally from Chicago, Jack moved to Idaho in 2017 to attend the University of Idaho College of Law. During his legal studies, Jack interned with a public defender in Nez Perce County where he developed a love for the law and a passion for tirelessly serving clients who relied on him to help navigate the criminal justice system. Jack also participated in the University of Idaho’s Legal Aid Clinic, where he enthusiastically represented his clients in a variety of family law matters. He also received a Divorce Mediation Certificate from the Northwest Institute for Dispute Resolution.

During his undergraduate studies at Eastern Illinois University, Mr. Wagner received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He has had a lifelong passion for the research of history and has a particular appreciation for the study of Ancient Rome and the Second World War. During his time at Eastern Illinois, Jack worked as an editor on the university’s historical journal. Mr. Wagner is happy to bring his unfaltering devotion to his clients to the Chaney Law team and looks forward to guiding his clients toward their desired legal outcomes.

Jacob Bateman, Associate Attorney

Jacob Bateman was born and raised in Idaho, growing up in the Boise/Meridian area. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving a combat tour in Afghanistan in 2010. After serving in the Marines, he attended Boise State University where he graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a certificate in Dispute Resolution.

Jacob obtained his law degree from the University of Idaho with a Business Law Emphasis. Additionally, he received a certificate in Civil Mediation from the Northwest Institute for Dispute Resolution. He also worked with the school’s Entrepreneurship Law Clinic, assisting small businesses with their legal needs.

Jacob became an attorney in order to help people in what may be the most trying times of their lives.

Sarah Chaney, Paralegal/Office Manager

Taylor-BenjaminSarah Chaney grew up in Weiser, Idaho.  Sarah spent years in law enforcement as a dispatcher and jail deputy.  Sarah graduated from Eastern Oregon University with a degree in communications and she received her Idaho family law mediation certification soon after.

Sarah’s experience in law enforcement is exceptionally beneficial to our clients when discovery demands mean that volumes of evidence has to be requested and received and/or collected and sent.  Our clients’ evidence is organized by Sarah’s capable hands.

Sarah assists on nearly all our cases, but she has a special passion for our family law and criminal defense cases.

Juli LaMont, Chief Legal Assistant

JuliJuli has extensive experience in the legal field both in personal injury, insurance defense work and family law.  She has a unique perspective having seen cases from both sides of the fence.  She has experience in criminal matters having served as an in-court clerk in Canyon County District Court for both Senior and assigned Judges.  She moved to the Caldwell area over two years ago by way of Nashville, TN.  Originally from Southern California, she started her legal career as a file clerk, working her way up through the ranks.  She has an important grasp on working up a file from opening to closing paying attention to everything in between.   Her number one priority is making sure Chaney Law Office clients are treated with respect and dignity whatever their situation.  “When our clients retain us, I want them to know they can depend on our team 100%.  Client satisfaction is my number one priority.”
